Back To School – I have a 1st and 4th Grader… What?!

I Am Not A Fan Of Back To School.

Although it is nothing short of chaos, I certainly love having my babes home with me all day long in the summer! Nonetheless, I complied. I checked all the boxes for back to school with all of my kiddos in tow. Starting with haircuts (which totally breaks my heart every time!) I sure do love my boys with shaggy-dos! However, Floyd’s did not disappoint. These boys certainly cleaned up nicely.

Can’t quite cave on cutting baby’s hair yet, and Grier still wants long hair like her Mommy – I’ll take the “mini-me” attitude as long as she’s willing! For as long as I can remember, I’ve been telling this one she’s blessed with the gift of a helper’s heart. She finds ways to help in every place we go – this day it was sweeping. (I wish it were sweeping more often!!!!!!)

Next stop… Tar-jay (a personal favorite, but not on tax-free weekend!!!) This isn’t my first back-to-school experience. I know better – shop early unless you want to shop twice, or three times even. But here we were – at Target on Sunday afternoon of tax free weekend. Can you tell how happy baby was to be tagging along? That’s about how I was feeling at this point. We got in. We got out. We were officially ready, and officially wiped out too!

And… then the day came (far too quickly in this mama’s opinion). I am now the proud mother to a 1st grader and a 4th grader – and to 2 future Olympians at that! Who knew?!

This last one is to show you all that sometimes you get-what-you-get. Arden was throwing a total fit, and Jude couldn’t take his eyes of his “wolf tail” (can you see the mardi-gras beads – I mean wolf tail?) Life won’t always be this silly. I’ll count this last photo as a keeper. Back to school my bigs go… and I’m home taming wolves & comforting babes. The life.

  1. Love 🙂 “life won’t always be this silly” …or this chaotic. And then it will be gone and we miss it all, right?!

    1. Based on how frequently I am stopped by elderly woman who remind me these are the best years, I am convinced we will long for these chaotic days long after they are gone… tantrums, sugar-fits, strong-willed children, and all! 🙂
